WALKING FOR HEALTH
East Riding of Yorkshire Council runs a programme of health walks aimed mainly at people who take little or no exercise. It is part of the national Walking for Health initiative and offers led walks for beginners.
The new walks take place every other Monday at 10.30am from Cottingham Sports Centre, King George V Playing Fields, Northgate, Cottingham. The walk lasts for approximately 30 minutes and afterwards there is the chance to socialise and have refreshments. Everyone is welcome.
Anybody who would like to walk with any of East Riding’s Walking for Health groups or train as a Walking for Health Volunteer Walk Leader, should contact the Scheme Co-ordinator, Laura Hutchinson, by phone on 01482 392527 or email

HISTORIC COTTINGHAM WALK
A short circular trail around the historic centre of Cottingham is available in a free leaflet (published by the Cottingham Local History Society) and can be obtained from the Parish Council Office and in several shops in the Village.
KING GEORGE V & MILL BECK SCULPTURE TRAIL
The Wildlife Trusts (Yorkshire) have prepared a leaflet about this trail. Six sculptures, representing an animal you may see in the area where the sculpture has been installed, have been placed along the trail around the King George V Playing Fields and the Mill Beck Wildlife Area.
Copies of the leaflet are available from the Parish Council Office along with another leaflet "Naturalist's Quiz"
PUBLIC FOOTPATHS AND RIGHTS OF WAY
With almost 1,000 miles (over 1500 km) of public rights of way in the East Riding this complex web of footpaths, bridleways and byways is available for public enjoyment. It offers the most significant opportunity for relaxation and makes a major contribution to health and welfare through healthy recreation and exercise.
